I take pictures because I'm driven to create. I really like making normal people look their best, so you probably won't see any gorgeous models in my portfolio. Just regular people who look like gorgeous models. For many people, my images will be a defining point in their self-image. I take that seriously, and I treat them with a respect befitting the beauty I see in all people.

**Beauty * Respect * Love * Appreciation**
That's what I strive to create and the spirit with which I approach those for whom I'm privledged to make portraits.

Sara + Jack = Getting Married! {Missouri wedding photographer}

08-27-sarah06

Remember Sarah and Jack?

They are the super fun couple, that I took out for a "quickie" engagement shoot on the morning of my son's high school graduation, and ended up spending 3 hours and around 600 photos.

I've got a soft spot for these two.

Sara is very pretty, and knows exactly how to work a camera. So she's very fun to shoot (which makes me glad I don't shoot film!). In fact, I've shot Sara 3 times. I still have more pics to share with you soon of a Rock the Dress session we did at the fair!

Sara is the kind of girl that real models should be. Pretty like the girl next door, average height, and average build yet fit, complete with a chicken pox scar on her cheek and one eye that sometimes squints a little more than the other when she smiles a sincere smile. (Making her even prettier.)

Sara is a nutritionist, and has a very informative blog.

Jack is funny, goofy and adventurous. Well, they're both adventurous, I have a hard time telling who drags whom. If you want a silly face or a face with character, Jack is the guy you call. He's a super hero in a little package.

I will stop waxing poetic about these two and commence with the photos!

We prepare for Sara and Jack's first look.

Sarah and Jack agreed to a "First look". This is where you have a little traditional, mixed with making the day more simple. Before the wedding, Jack and I met up and Sarah came along and "discovered" us on this beautiful little bridge in the middle of the park. He turns and surprise!, gets to see her dress for the first time.

It's one of my very favorite moments of the day. It also gives them a quiet moment together alone, which is probably the last one for the day. We take this opportunity to do a mini shoot of the couple.

You can tell how crazy these two are for each other, and so once again, they make taking photos of them easy.

I told you they are silly. The tongue thing must be a reoccuring theme, because I have several of these shots.

This is Jack's posse. I call it Jack's superhero pose, Sarah thinks his guys needs sunglasses like some badass bodyguards.

See?
I told you.

These girls seem like they are probably a whole mess of trouble when they are together. Don't worry, I got some really "appropriate" photos too! I couldn't resist the funny photo. Hey, at least no one is picking someone else's nose!

Now I know that the Maid of Honor, and the bridesmaid have important jobs. Really they do. But we all know who the SECOND most important girl is of the day:

The little flower girl.

This job is of the utmost importance. I mean, isn't it obvious? Look at all the attention she gets!

Not to be outdone by this guy:

Did I say something about nose picking?
Yeah, that's Jack. {the picker}

I'm fairly confident this was a spontanious moment. Jack put the ring on Sarah, and he kissed her hand afterwards. Then Sarah put the ring on Jack, paused for a moment, and then kissed his hand back.

There are just not enough romantic hand kissing men out there.

I told you these girls are trouble!

The music, the food, the company was all wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a kinder bunch of people to work with!

Thank you Sarah and Jack, for allowing me to photograph your day. I feel like I have gained friends!

Sara + Brian = Engaged! - {Missouri Wedding Photographer}

Meet Sara and Brian

08-25-sara-brian3

Sara and Brian are now a super special couple to me. I'll explain in a moment. But first I have to preface with the fact that we TRIED to work together for their wedding, but I was already booked. Which was a real bummer because I think they are really sweet and kind people.

However, Sara's brother is getting married next year, and I'll be shooting that one, so I will get to see Sara and Brian again soon.

We went out to the college like I do about 50% of my engagement shoots. I do this because most of my couples have gone to school here in Maryville and I feel like a photo on the kissing bridge, and around the pond are just darn near REQUIRED.

Wanna know how to tell when a very conservative guy really, really loves his girl? He'll let you take cutesy smoochy shots like this one:

08-25-sara-brian1

In fact, he was saying "I can just FEEL the cute."
Thank you Brian for playing along. See how cute you look!? :)

08-25-sara-brian5

The pond is very pretty and always well landscaped. The college grounds keepers do such a beautiful job. There's 2 waterfalls on the other end, and a really cool rock wall that I shoot from a lot. You can get some really neat angles.

This is the second to the last photo I took:

08-25-sara-brian4

30 seconds later, I was laying on the ground writhing in pain cuz I'm stupid. I tripped over said rock wall and broke my foot. Technically I just cracked it and sprained it. I'll settle for that. I hate to see what a big break feels like.

Anyway, Brian and Sara stayed with me until my husband showed up, and Brian even helped tote my big butt to the car so I could get to the emergency room.

Brian. You rock.

Both of you, I'm sorry. I'm normally not so lame and a killjoy. LOL!
